Job Opening, 2012

An Invitation to Send Your Resume...
Office Manager (part-time)

We will be adding an office manager to our staff by mid-March. Resumes are due by February 10th, and should be emailed to personnel@thepalms.org. Anyone is welcome to apply. No church membership is required, but our OM must be highly compatible with a faith-based community.

The person we seek will manage our office and provide general administrative coordination. We are an inclusive church of 325+ adults, with many additional non-members who are active. There is a lot going on! We need some help to keep it organized and growing.

The ideal candidate will have excellent people skills, including the ability to handle interruptions with grace. He or she must be excellent with details (names, dates, times) and follow-through, able to help us plan and complete projects. At least an intermediate knowledge of software (especially MS Office 2010) is essential. Our OM will join a staff of eight--only our pastor is full-time. Our office PCs are networked, and the equipment is excellent and in good repair. We also have WiFi-n.

Other traits will separate your resume from the rest: creative design ability for attractive displays and publications; previous PR experience would be helpful; church office experience is not required but would be helpful; experience in updating web pages would be ideal.

The typical work week is 28 hours spread over Monday to Friday, with some flexibility. For the fifteen weeks of summer, the workweek reduces to about 20 hours. Normal tasks include overseeing publication of our weekly worship folder, weekly press releases, monthly newsletter, bulletin board posters, and a variety of annual publications; recrutiing and managing our office volunteers; interfacing with vendors, contractors and church leaders; and implementing ways to streamline our operation. Our goal is to have as much of the hands-on work as possible done by volunteers; the OM's skills will help determine how much of that is possible.

The salary is negotiable. Paid vacation will be available after one year; unpaid leave is flexible. No other specified benefits are offered; however the salary can be designated in whatever ways the OM wishes.

When the deadline for receiving resumes has passed, we will contact those we wish to interview. We will keep all who submit a resume up-to-date as to where we are in the process.

Send resumes and any questions to personnel@thepalms.org. Thank you for considering us in your job search.
